Everything we do for our clients is focused on positively impacting their mind, body and soul.
It is this award-winning approach to holistic care which sets us apart from all other providers. And key to the Blossom Home Care difference is empowering our clients to continue enjoying their favourite social activities and trips out of the home.
Enabling clients to maintain in-person contact with friends and family, whilst also keeping up with their favourite pastimes as part of a completely tailored care plan, provides immense benefits to both their physical and mental health.
Why getting out and about is so vital
Elderly clients and those with complex care requirements often experience physical limitations, isolation and loneliness – all of which can negatively impact their mental and emotional health. However, engaging in social activities and having the opportunity to interact with others is proven to help counteract these feelings and improve overall quality of life.
Studies have shown that social engagement and physical activity can improve cognitive function, increase self-esteem, and reduce the symptoms of depression and anxiety. Getting out of the house helps clients to stay active and maintain a level of independence, leading to improved physical health and a decreased risk of falls and other health complications.
When accompanied by a Blossom carer, days out – such as trips to the beach or visiting a museum – provide clients with a sense of purpose, new experiences, and a very welcome change of scenery. This can help break up the monotony of daily routines and provide much-needed stimulation for the mind and senses.
Additionally, participating in group activities such as clubs and classes help clients to build new relationships and connections with other like-minded individuals. This helps to alleviate feelings of loneliness and increase clients’ sense of community and belonging.
How our holistic approach to care achieves this
All our carer visits last a minimum of 50 minutes – and often much longer, depending on the agreed level of care. This provides the necessary time for our carers to engage in virtually any activity that keeps clients motivated and upbeat, on top of the day-to-day essential tasks that keep clients safe and healthy in their own home.
Activities are based around the things that really stimulate a client’s interest or passion. This could range from enjoying a few board games in a local pub, to full days out at local parks, beaches, or visiting historical sites and tourist attractions.
For example, as part of their bespoke holistic care routine, one Blossom Home Care client enjoys spending afternoons feeding their beloved horses. This is a highly rewarding and engaging activity they have been used to doing all their life – and so ensuring they are still able to do this is a major part of maintaining their physical and mental wellbeing, despite the client’s requirement for care.
As an additional benefit, such activities are also logged in the Blossom Home Care app. Family members can refer to this at any time of day and get instant reassurance their loved one is getting an all-encompassing level of care, wherever their day has taken them!
Our special approach to premium home care services is designed to ensure one thing: enabling clients to live their life the way they want for as long as possible.
