We’re hugely proud to shine the spotlight on two of our amazing team of Blossom carers, who have been nominated for awards in recognition of their incredible work.
Wendy and Kerri, who both work with clients of Blossom Home Care Worcester, are finalists at the Worcestershire Health and Social Care Awards and Great British Care Awards respectively.
The duo were put forward by Fiona Rutherford, Director of our Worcester office, in recognition of their ongoing commitment to delivering the highest standards of home care, and outstanding contributions to the lives of their clients and their families.
Wendy nominated for Palliative/End of Life Care Award
Carer Wendy was nominated for the Palliative/End of Life Care award at the Worcestershire Health and Social Care Awards.
The ceremony was held on Thursday 19 September at the Bank House Hotel in Malvern. Although Wendy didn’t win on the night, being a finalist is a huge achievement.
Speaking about why she nominated Wendy, Fiona said: “Wendy is a retired registered nurse, so she was able to transition to end of life care really well. She has been brilliant, not just with clients, but with their families too.
“She understands the whole situation; end of life care isn’t just about caring for the client, it’s about helping the family who are all involved and affected too. Wendy genuinely cares and tries to make a difference however she can.
“Wendy has never been nominated for an award before, so she was very shocked. But she was so excited – she’s even been in the local papers!”
Kerri nominated for Home Care Coordinator of the Year
Fellow Blossom Worcester carer Kerri is a finalist for the Home Care Coordinator of the Year award at the regional Great British Care Awards.
Kerri met with the judging panel in September, with the winner set to be announced during the awards ceremony at The ICC, Birmingham, in November.
“Kerri is a hugely popular carer and people often call and ask for her specifically to attend to clients,” explains Fiona.
“She is amazing and she really deserves this. She is Blossom all over: so dedicated, loves her clients, does extra shifts, and always goes above and beyond for clients. She’s also such a good team player and brilliant for morale.
“We value her so much as a person. We simply cannot fault her. She’s really excited and already trying to work out what to wear on the night!”
“I’m just so proud of both Wendy and Kerri for getting the recognition they so truly deserve.”
